Future projects

Can you see my socks? Haha ;)

These books are cool. These are some of the books I'm using for my thesis.
They're giving me ideas for my future projects.
I can't believe I'm dreaming of future projects when this current project (PhD thesis) is not done yet.

Oh well, success starts with a dream after all, right?

Goodnight now!

Keep your chin up, don't drown in your sweat

Okay. I'm back to being in love and giddy and excited and happy and....
Well, the list goes on. Just insert the blank with a positive word.
Didn't I tell you that you'll have a love and hate relationship with your thesis?
Sometimes it's love and sometimes it's hate. You're kind of married to it. Hahahaha XD

Anyway, I'm back on track and back to being motivated to work hard on it.
I picked up some virtual motivation posters from Google to help me be inspired.

Hope you are inspired too. Have a nice day ahead!
I have a meeting with my supervisor later today so wish me luck!
Hope it will turn out okay (wishful thinking, pretty please).

I borrowed a DVD from the local library entitled, 'Lion'. My friend Sharifah recommended that movie and when I saw the DVD on the library shelf, I was ecstatic! It was based on a true story so I was excited to watch it even though I know the storyline is sad. But it has a happy ending so that's wonderful news isn't it?

Photo taken from the world wide web (2017).

I'm not going to spoil anything for you. You have to watch it in order to know what happens. All I'm going to say is that, it is A MUST WATCH MOVIE.

It got me thinking about life and most of the time I thought about how lucky I am being here in Malaysia and New Zealand. How my life is way easier and lavish than Saroo (the main character in the movie). Alhamdulillah. Insaf tau.

Watch it for yourself. You'll know what I'm talking about then.

note: There's no lion in the movie. For lion lovers out there, don't be disappointed.

Sometimes you feel like you're on top of the world,

and then you're back down on the ground again.

I'm talking about me and my sweetheart - the PhD thesis.

Just as I thought I'm doing well, I came across a bump in the road and now everything changes. Right now I'm lazy to do anything about it. I just want to run and jump in the sea or something. Hahaha... cool off steam, have fun and forget.

You know, in life you'll come across many bumps in the road. Sometimes it makes you sad, sometimes it makes you happy, sometimes it makes you hopeful... and the list goes on.

Just make sure to never give up.

One day when everything is over, I'm going to look back and probably miss my PhD experience...

Little Learners

There's a new playgroup called 'Little Learners' in town and I thought of checking it out. I enrolled Medina in the program as I think she will benefit from it. The playgroup meets every Friday for an hour in Kilbirnie. This playgroup is also available at some other towns, I heard. The founder is Kirsty Foster, a famous blogger here in Wellington. She was an Early Childhood teacher as well as  Montessori trained. So, most of the activities done were Montessori inspired. More information can be found on her webpage here ----->

What I love about this playgroup is that it gave me ideas on the activities that I can do with Medina at home. Kirsty used things that are easily available at home or you know, stuff that aren't expensive and hard to find in store.

I took some photos of Medina while she was engaged in the activities. There were a lot of other kids around but I don't want to post any pictures of other kids here because I didn't get any consent from the parents. It may seem like Medina is the only one here but rest assured there were about 15 other children around me. Yeah, it wasn't easy to capture pictures where my child was the only one in the frame, but I managed.

Some pictures...

I like this one best. It kept her occupied. She was trying very hard to use that tongs.
I had to help her on many occasions of course but one day, she'll get it. This activity is good for her fine motor skills as well as her thinking skills.

These are rubber pom-poms. You can use other stuff too but make sure they are not choking hazards, especially if your child likes to put things in the mouth.

Hoola hoops activity. Putting hoops on the hook? I actually don't know what to call that.
It's a mug holder. Something you may have at home.

Coloured hoops are cool. You can teach about colours as you play this game with her.

Rice bin activity. This activity is a bit advanced for under twos.
But if you don't mind the mess, go ahead.

Transferring rice from one cup into the other. Using a funnel is also fun!

DIY shakers. Medina loves shakers. Especially those that have different sounds.

You can make all these at home. Be creative and use other stuffs if you don't have the same things as above. See what I did below:

 Hoola hoops fun.

I used empty toilet rolls for this one.

That's all for now. Enjoy and I hope you'll benefit something from this blog entry!
Cheers <3
