Traveling with a baby

We're in Malaysia! Weeeeee... I didn't say anything about going back to Malaysia in my last post because we wanted to give a surprise to our family. So I had to be careful with my words incase one of our family members read the blog post and figured out our plans.

So, we survived the trip. We had two stopovers. We took this route: Wellington - Sydney - Melbourne - Kuala Lumpur. We purposely chose to stop in Sydney because we wanted to say hello to my sister and bro-in-law who live in Sydney. We had 4 hours and half transit in Sydney so we arranged to meet at the domestic terminal. My sister and her husband (my bro-in-law) bought sushi and kuey tiow (however you spell that) for us to eat. It was so good and i'm actually thinking about those food now. Oh, five more hours to go until Maghrib :p So, it was their first time seeing Medina too (that was why we wanted to stop in Sydney). But Medina had stranger anxiety and cried when they wanted to cuddle her. Poor baby.

On a  different note, Medina was a good girl on the flights. She slept most of the time in the planes. We couldn't be more relieved. However, she exploded her nappy 2 hours before we landed in KL. Hahaha. So she poo-ed and messed up her rompers. I wanted to change her but at that exact moment when I was about to go in the lavatory, the seat belt sign was switched on and one of the stewardess rushed me back to my seat. Baby was uncomfortable, I was uncomfortable and baby's daddy was uncomfortable. After 30 minutes of waiting, we told the air hostesses that we couldn't hold on anymore and that we had to get her changed pronto! The seat belt sign was still on, the plane was bumpy but Medina and I just had to go to the lavatory. Medina was one cheerful baby when I changed her into clean diaper and clothes. Once back at the seat, my husband rocked her to sleep and we safely arrived in KL two hours after that. Alhamdulillah.

Only when we were claiming our baggage that I realized, I had poo on my jeans and shirt! Oh well... I guess that's what traveling with a baby is like. XD

Ramadhan Kareem 2016

Ramadhan Kareem to all muslims! How's your ramadhan so far?

I haven't got the chance to write much. The limited time I have (when baby is asleep), I spent it on my thesis and expressing milk for Medina. And of course other things like eating, drinking, bathing etc. I Instagram-ed more than I blog. Coz Instagram is so easy, don't you agree?

Anyhoo...

Ramadhan has been good so far and Alhamdulillah I haven't missed any fasting yet. It's not obligatory for me to fast since I'm breastfeeding but Wellington has short days now. Today's Fajr time is 6:15am and Maghrib is at 4:58pm. So I thought I would try and Alhamdulillah everything went well - for now.

Life is... well, life. There are ups and downs to it. The ups: Medina is growing healthily and more beautiful everyday. Alhamdulillah. Also, my supervisors have been wonderful  and understanding. I couldn't be more grateful. The downs: I'm getting a bit stress about my PhD but that's not new is it? And then Medina developed some red spots and red patches on her face, especially around her eyes. We went to the doctor and he said it could be eczema. *sigh* Well, he said, 'could be' so there's still hope. I don't like eczema. It's one of my worst enemy, not that I have many. Anyway, I have mild eczema and I'm hoping Medina won't get it. I hope it's allergy and not eczema. So today, I took off my beddings, washed them and went to the laundry in Newtown to have them dried. Vacuumed the whole house too, incase Medina is sensitive to dust. Anyway, hope she'll be alright. Her skin looks better now. InsyaaAllah, soon it will disappear.

Oh we are going on an adventure soon and I'm excited! But my husband is a bit nervous about taking the baby on the trip. Oh well, what to do? We simply have to stay calm and pray things will be fine. Oh Medina, please be a good girl on our trip okay? This will be Medina's first time. There's always a first time to everything right? Wish us luck!

3 months old Medina.
